Like other powerful Mongol men, Genghis Khan had many concubines and wives. He used to acquire wives and concubines from societies and empires that were conquered by him.

Many of those women were queens or princesses that were either gifted to him or taken captive. It was the duty of Kheshig (Mongol imperial guard) to safeguard the yurts of Genghis Khan’s wives.

The guards were restricted to pay exclusive attention to the individual yurt and camp in which Genghis Khan slept, which used to get changed every night as Genghis Khan visited several wives.

Genghis Khan Death Cause

Genghis Khan was died in August 1227. The actual cause of his death is still a mystery; however, you might have heard various stories about his death cause.

One of the causes is being claimed that Genghis Khan was died in a camp while doing a campaign against the Chinese kingdom of Xi Xia. He got injuries during a fall from a horse in the last year and had falling health. On his deathbed, he ordered to wipe the existence of Xi Xia from the earth.

Genghis Khan was died on 18th August 1227 but the location of his tomb is still not discovered. However, it is being claimed strongly that the most likely location of Genghis Khan Tomb is somewhere in the vicinity of the Mongol sacred mountain of Burkhan Khaldun in the Khentii mountain range.

After the death of Genghis Khan his body was returned to Mongolia. The Genghis Khan Mausoleum is a dedicated temple to Genghis Khan in the current day, but this isn’t his burial site.
