Enner Valencia was born on 4 November 1989 in Esmeraldas, Ecuador to Bolivia Lastra and Remberto Valencia. He belongs to the Afro-Ecuadorian descent and was very poor growing up. When he arrived in Emelec for his trial at Caribe Junior, he had to sleep in rudimentary lodgings at the club’s Estadio George Capwell. Not only that he hadn’t any money to afford lodging, he barely has enough to eat.
Valencia married his girlfriend Sharon Escobar and the couple has been blessed with three children Amelia, Annalia, and David. His eldest daughter Beira born is from his former wife Sinthyia Pinargote Chumo. In October 2016, Sinthyia filed a complaint and a warrant was issued for his arrest in Ecuador for unpaid child support.

International Career of Enner Valencia
Valencia played for the under-22 team for Ecuador and played last at the 2011 Pan American Games before making his debut for the national team. He made his debut for Ecuador on 12 February 2012 in a friendly match against Honduras. Initially, he started as a winger but as a part of experiment by the Emelec coach Gustavo Quinteros, he was converted into a striker.
Valencia made his FIFA debut in 2014 when he played the team’s opening match against Switzerland. The match was held at the Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha in Brazil. Valencia maintained his great form throughout the World Cup scoring two goals gainst Honduras and a third against Bolivia.
In 2022 World Cup, he scored two goals against the hosting team Qatar and completed a total of five goals in the tournament, the highest for any Ecuadorian player.

The striker gave Ecuador the lead when he scored the first goal of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the 16th minute as a result of penalty. The lead was further extended by Valencia himself. He scored a goal second in the 31st minute with a precise header into the bottom corner.
