Chris Rock was born on February 7, 1965, in Andrews, South Carolina to Rosalie and Julius Rock. His father was a truck driver and newspaper deliveryman while his mother was a teacher and social worker for the mentally handicapped. Rock was the eldest of seven children. His three younger brothers are also in the entertainment business.
In 1996, Rock married Malaak Compton-Rock, the founder and executive director of a non-profit, full-service hair salon, StyleWorks. The salon provides free services for women who leave welfare and enter the workforce. The couple got divorced in 2016. Since 2022, Rock is allegedly dating actress and director Lake Bell.
