Jason Bateman was born on January 14, 1969, in Rye, New York to Victoria Elizabeth and Kent Bateman. His mother was a flight attendant for Pan Am while his father was an actor, writer, and director. Bateman has three half-brothers and an older sister Justine Bateman who is also an actress. Justine is best known for her roles in “Family Ties”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Satisfaction”, “The TV Set”, and others.

Jason attended Pacific Hills School in California but never finished high school because of his involvement in the movie Teen Wolf Too. Bateman even once told in an interview that he and his sister used to support their parents by working on television shows. Until the age of 20 years, Jason’s father worked as his manager.

Bateman started dating Amanda Anka in 1999 whom he had known for over a decade. Two years later, they tied the knot and are living a happy life together with their two daughters. After appearing in acting roles as a child, Bateman began his television career with a small role in the show “Little House on the Prairie” in 1981. He was later cast as a supporting character on the television show “Silver Spoons” from 1982 to 1984. Jason kept making appearances in small roles in several other television series before being given his own starring role as Matthew Burton on the NBC sitcom “It’s Your Move” (1984). Although the series lasted only for one season with 18 episodes, Bateman was able to establish himself as a serious actor at only the age of 15. 

In 1986, Jason appeared as David Hogan in the series “Valerie” (later renamed “The Hogan Family”) which established him as a teen idol. He further gained international recognition after playing the lead role in the 1987 comedy film “Teen Wolf Too” which was a sequel to the 1985 movie “Teen Wolf”. However, Jason’s career suffered a minor setback in the 1990s. Although, he had roles on four series – Simon, Chicago Sons, George & Leo, and Some of My Best Friends in 1994, none of these shows lasted longer than one season.

Bateman’s career bounced back when he was cast in the comedy series “Arrested Development”. Despite getting low reviews, the show gained critical acclaim and put Bateman back on the radar.
