Joseph Biden was born on 20 November 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Biden and Joseph Robinette Biden Senior. He has a younger sister and two younger brothers. Biden’s father had been wealthy when Joe was a child but suffered business setbacks only to later became a successful used-car salesman, maintaining the family in a middle-class lifestyle.
In 1966, Biden married Neilia Hunter, a student at Syracuse University and they had three children. Neilia along with their one-year-old daughter was killed in an automobile accident while Christmas shopping in Delaware. Biden was left devastated with that but his life started becoming normal after he met teacher Jill Tracy Jacobs in 1975 on a blind date. They married and had one daughter together.
