Shah first rose to fame for her role on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in 2020 but recently made headlines for her role in a long-running telemarketing scheme.

Shah and one of her assistants, Stuart Smith, got arrested in Utah in 2021 during the production for season 2 and later charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.

According to the prosecutors, Shah along with others had been selling “business services” to elderly individuals and also provided the ‘leads’ to many of the people involved in this crime

Jen Shah’s Court Plea

During initial allegations, both Shah and Smith were pleading guilty and Shah also maintained her innocence until her recent court hearing in July 2022.

In August 2021 during a hearing, Shah’s legal team attempted to get the charges dismissed but the request was denied by the judge.

In July 2022, Shah switched her original plea of not guilty to guilty.

Under the plea deal, the sentence rage is from 11 to 14 years as per the advisory guidelines.

However, Shah is requesting a reduced sentence of three years in prison upon various claims by her lawyers. The Probation department has recommended a sentence of six years in the case while the prosecutors are still to submit their recommended sentence.

Shah is in prison now.
