Lawrence “Larry” David was born on July 2, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York City to Rose and Mortimer Julius “Morty” David. His parents run a men’s clothing company and the family has very little money while Larry was growing up. David realized his potential to make people laugh simply by being himself while he was in college. He also has an older brother named Ken.

David was married to Laurie Lennard from 1993 to 2007 and together the couple have two daughters, Cazzie David and Romy David. In 2020, David got married to producer Ashley Underwood whom he met in 2017 at a birthday party.

Larry David Early Career & Seinfeld

Larry started his career as a stand-up comedian while also working as a store clerk, limousine driver and a historian. His living conditions were quite poor and he lived alone in a federally subsidized housing complex in Manhattan Plaza. In 1984, he became a writer for NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) where he met his co-worker Julia Louis-Dreyfus (who later played the role of Elaine in Seinfeld).

David met Jerry Seinfeld and they both created The Seinfeld Chronicles, a pilot for NBC which soon got converted into Seinfeld show.
