CBSE Class 8 Artificial Intelligence Syllabus 2024-25

CBSE has introduced the Artificial Intelligence as a subject in class 8^th curriculum to help students understand the artificial intelligence along with its applications.

The overall CBSE Class 8 Artificial Intelligence syllabus 2024-25 includes 5 units based on the concepts of Artificial Intelligence.

Both teachers and students should check the syllabus very carefully before the starting of an academic session. CBSE has also recommended the number of periods that should be allotted to a unit in Artificial Intelligence syllabus.

The sessions and activities of each unit in the Artificial Intelligence subject are given below.

1. Excite
   1. Session: Introduction to AI and setting up the context of the curriculum
   2. Ice Breaker Activity: Dream Smart Home idea
      1. Learners to design a rough layout of floor plan of their dream smart home
   3. Recommended Activity: The AI Game

Learners to participate in three games based on different AI domains.

1. Game 1: Rock, Paper and Scissors (based on data)
2. Game 2: Mystery Animal (based on Natural Language Processing – NLP)

• Game 3: Emoji Scavenger Hunt (based on Computer Vision – CV)

4. Recommended Activity: AI Quiz (Paper Pen/Online Quiz)
5. Recommended Activity: To write a letter Writing a Letter to one’s future self.
   1. Learners to write a letter to self-keeping the future in context. They will describe what they have learnt so far or what they would like to learn someday.
6. Relate
   1. Video Session: To watch a video
      1. Introducing the concept of Smart Cities, Smart Schools and Smart Homes
   2. Recommended Activity: To write an Interactive Story
      1. Learners to draw a floor plan of a Home/School/City and write an interactive story around it using Story Speaker extension in Google docs.
7. Purpose
   1. Session: Introduction to sustainable development goals
   2. Recommended Activity: Go Goals Board Game
      1. Learners to answer questions on Sustainable Development Goals.
8. Possibilities
   1. Session: Theme-based research and Case Studies
      1. Learners will listen to various case-studies of inspiring start-ups, companies or communities where AI has been involved in real-life.
      2. Learners will be allotted a theme around which they need to search for present Artificial Intelligence trends and have to visualize the future of AI in and around their respective theme.
   2. Recommended Activity: Job Ad Creating activity
      1. Learners to create a job advertisement for a firm describing the nature of job available and the skill-set required for it 10 years down the line. They need to figure out how AI is going to transform the nature of jobs and create the Ad accordingly.

1. Video Session: Discussing about AI Ethics
2. Recommended Activity: Ethics Awareness
   1. Students play the role of major stakeholders and they have to decide what is ethical and what is not for a given scenario.
3. Session: AI Bias and AI Access
   1. Discussing about the possible bias in data collection.
   2. Discussing about the implications of AI technology.
4. Recommended Activity: Balloon Debate
   1. Students divide in teams of 3 and 2 teams are given same theme. One team goes in affirmation to AI for their section while the other one goes against it.
   2. They have to come up with their points as to why AI is beneficial/ harmful for the society.
