Kendriya Vidyalaya Vigyan Vihar Eligibility Criteria 2024

Those interested parents who are looking to enrol their kids in Kendriya Vidyalaya Vigyan Vihar should ensure their wards meet the following eligibility criteria.

Age Limit

The minimum and maximum age limits are different for students from different classes as given below.

Registration Process (How to apply?)

  • In order to register, parents/ students need to collect the application form from the Principal office of the school. However, the application form for class 1st will release in online mode.
  • In the registration form, candidates have to provide their complete educational, personal, and contact details.
  • The details provided in the application form must be accurate. Otherwise, the application form can get rejected.
  • The duly filled application form must be submitted at the Principal office before the last date.

Priorities for Admission

  • 1st Preference –  Children and grandchildren of employees of the Project Sector/Institutes of Higher Learning which are the sponsors of the Vidyalaya, Children of Project employees & Post Graduate students who are working on long term research projects, Children of regular Council of Wardens (COW) employees and children and grandchildren of retired employees.
  • 2nd Preference – Children of transferable and non-transferable Central government employees and children of ex- servicemen (Children of foreign national officials who come on deputation or transfer to India on invitation by Govt. of India.
  • 3rd Preference – Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies/ Public Sector Undertaking/Institute of Higher Learning of the Government of India.
  • 4th Preference – Children of transferable and non-transferable State Government employees.
  • 5th Preference – Children of Public Sector Undertakings/Institute of Higher Learning of the State Governments
  • 6th Preference – Children from any other category including the children of Foreign Nationals who are located in India due to their work or for any personal reasons.

Point to remember: Preference in Admission will be provided on the basis of number of transfers of the parents in the last 7 years.

Documents Required

The documents required for KV admission is as follows.

  • For 1st Class – certificate of proof of age in the form of a birth certificate issued by the authority competent to register births. For other classes – the date of birth recorded in the transfer certificate issued by a school recognized by the State Education Department would be accepted.
  • Grand Children for Hon’ble Member of Parliament and PSU employees – A proof of relationship of either of the child’s parents with the Hon’ble Member of Parliament or PSU employees would be needed.
  • Grandchildren of KVS employee – A proof of relationship of either of the child’s parent with the KVS employee (serving or retired) would be needed.
  • Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ EWS/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/BPL wherever applicable, issued by the competent authority in concerned State Government/Union Government.
  • PWD certificate of the child if applicable. This certificate must be issued by a civil surgeon/ rehabilitation centre or any other competent authority defined by the Government of India.
  • A service certificate showing the number of transfers during the preceding 7 years duly signed and stamped by the head of office bearing the name, designation and other relevant particulars in block letters
  • A certificate of retirement for uniformed Defence employees. If applicable.
  • Residence proof

Method of admission to class 1 

A total of 40 seats are available for admission. These seats will be allotted in the following two phases.

  • 1st Phase: In the first phase, 10 seats will be filled under Right to education provisions. Admission will be provided on the basis of draw of lots from all applications of SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) who are the resident of Neighbourhood/ Differently abled taken together.
  • 2nd Phase: Seats remaining vacant will be filled as per the existing priority system as mentioned above in this post.

Note: Admission test will not be conducted for class 1st.

Method of admission to class 9 

  • An entrance exam will be conducted for admission to class 9th. Admissions will be provided on the basis of a merit list to be prepared based on the entrance exam result.
  • The duration of the class 9th entrance exam will be 3 hours.
  • The maximum marks will be 100 distributed among the subjects in the following manner.
    • Hindi – 20 marks
    • English – 20 marks
    • Mathematics – 20 marks
    • Social Science – 20 marks
    • Science – 20 marks
  • It is compulsory for a candidate to score at least 33% marks in aggregate in order to qualify.

Method of admission to class 11

For admission to class 11th, first preference will be given to candidates who have passed class 10th from Kendriya Vidyalaya. The eligibility criteria for KV School students are as follows.

  • The eligibility for admission depends upon the stream for which you are applying i.e. Science, Commerce, and Humanities as given below.
    •  For Science stream – the student should have a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all subjects at the class 10th level.
    • Commerce stream – Students must have passed 10th class with a minimum of 50% marks.
    • Humanities – All students who passed class 10th from a Kendriya Vidyalaya are eligible.

Note: In case the seat remains vacant after the admission of KV students then seats can be offered to non-KV students.
