Tulsi Gabbard was born on April 12, 1981 in Leloaloa, American Samoa to Carol Porter and Mike Gabbard. Her father Gerald Michael “Mike” Gabbard is a Samoan American politician, currently serving as the Hawaii State Senator for District 20 from the Democratic party, since 2006. Tulsi has three elder and one younger sibling. Other than politics, Tulsi has served in the military as well.

Gabbard married Eduardo Tamayo in 2002 but they got divorced citing “the stresses war places on military spouses and families” as a reason. Gabbard married freelance cinematographer and editor Abraham Williams in 2015. Williams is also the son of her Honolulu office manager.

Political Career of Tulsi Gabbard

Gabbard won the four-candidate Democratic primary voting in 2002 and got selected for the 42nd district of the Hawaii House of Representatives. Now, representing the Democratic party, Gabbard won the general election defeating Republican Alfonso Jimenez. Gabbard became the youngest legislator ever elected in Hawaii’s history and the youngest woman ever elected to a US state legislature at the age of 21.
