The International Day of Human Fraternity is observed on February 4th by people of the Group of St. Vincent de Paul Conventions, Vincentian Family sections, the Holy Church, as well as all humanity.
This day was set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2020, at a time when most people were dealing with a global downturn brought together by the Coronavirus outbreak, that aggravated economic inequality, exclusion, and class inequality, as well as economic slump and, sadly, hundreds of deaths around the world.

The majority of the members of this group are worldwide religious, academic, and artistic luminaries. Representatives of the Higher Committee convened with the United Nations General Secretary, António Guterres, in December 2019 to present the Pope and the Grand Imam by a request that February 4 be designated as the World Day of Human Fraternity. The United Nations General Assembly quickly declared February 4th as World Day of Human Fraternity, with Volkan Bozkir, the chairman of the General Assembly, proposing the resolution.
The Supreme Commission also established the ‘Zayed Award for Human Brotherhood,’ which established an autonomous panel to accept nominations and select recipients among people who have committed their life to humanity brotherhood, shared trust, and harmony.
