Nursery Admission Delhi 2020-2021: Dates, Application Process, Eligibility

Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, is the respective authority that governs the process of Nursery Admission in Delhi. The admission will be provided in the nursery class of the school recognized by Delhi government. The parents who want to enroll their child in these schools can either opt for 75% open quota seats or 25% seats reserved for EWS/ DG categories. Please note that the authorities will release the notifications for admission to open quota seats and reserved seats separately. The age a child should be more than 3 years in order to get enrolled for Nursery Admission Delhi 2020. News: Nursery admission in Delhi for the academic session 2020-21 starts from 29th November 2019. The last date for submission of application form is 27th December 2019. Aspirants need to pay only Rs.25/- to purchase application form and prospectus from the respective school. The first list of selected candidates will be out on 24th Jan 2020 and second list will be out on February 12, 2020.

Nursery Admission Delhi 2020 Important Info

  • To get admission under EWS categories, the annual income of the family from all sources should be less than 1 lakh.
  • Child belongs to any of the following categories comes under the Disadvantages group (DG).
    • Scheduled Caste
    • Scheduled Tribe
    • OBC (Non-Creamy layer)
    • A child with special needs suffering from disability, as defined in ‘Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995’.
    • Orphans as defined in Juvenile Justice Act
    • Transgender
    • Children living with or affected by HIV.
  • For admission to general category seats (maximum 75% seats), the school will release the application forms either in online or offline mode.
  • The application form for EWS/ DG category will get released in online mode only.
  • There is no need to submit an income certificate along with an application form for DG category applicants.
  • The caste certificate of other states will not be accepted. It is mandatory to have a caste certificate issued by the Revenue Department (DC/DM office), GNCT of Delhi only.

Admission for EWS Category

The admission under EWS category may start from first week of January 2020(probably from 1st Jan onwards). The respective notification might be released in the last week of December 2019.

Delhi Nursery Admission Age Limit

As per the guidelines of Delhi Government (DOE), the age criteria for Delhi Nursery admission should be as follows.

  • Nursery Admission: 3 to 4 years
  • Kindergarten: 4 to 5 years
  • 1st Class: 5 to 6 year

The age of a child should meet the criteria mentioned above as on 31st March 2020

Application Process

The Delhi Nursery application process 2020 depends upon the school in which you are applying. However, the application form for EWS/ DG category will be released in online mode only. For open/ general seats, some schools will release the application form online while some will release the same in offline mode. Here are some important details related to the Delhi Nursery Application form.

  • To apply for 75% open quota seats in a school, either you have to visit the official website of the school or visit the school’s admission office to get a printed application form.
  • Delhi Government (DOE) will release the application form for EWS/ DG category on its official website i.e.
  • The parents should fill the application form very carefully by providing every detail in an accurate manner.
  • Apart from the details, you also need to upload/ affix a recent photograph of the child in an application form.
  • For EWS/ DG categories, the Delhi nursery application fee is Rs. 25/-.
  • You should note that none of the schools can force parents to buy prospectus which usually is of higher cost.

Selection Process

  • For granting admission to general seats, the schools will grant points to students out of 100.
  • Different schools take different parameters into consideration while giving points to a student like distance from the school, girl child, single parent, alumni parent, etc.
  • One the other hand, a lucky draw will be conducted to selecting the students for 25% EWS/ DG category seats.
  • Some schools can have their own criteria for admissions as well. For example- Salwan School, Rajendra Nagar is not giving nursery admission to the wards of parents having more than 2 kids.

  • The school will upload the list of students selected for admission on their website or paste it on the notice board.
  • After getting the name of their ward in the selection list, the parents have to report to the school along with all the necessary documents.
  • The admission will be confirmed only after the verification of documents.
  • The result of Delhi Nursery Admission lottery 2020 will be uploaded on the website of DOE. It can be checked by entering the registration number and date of birth of a child.

Documents required for EWS/ DG category Admission

Following documents are necessary for admission in the seats reserved for EWS/ DG category.

EWS category

  • Income- Certificate issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar or BPL/AAY/ Food Security Card issued by Food and Civil Supply Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

DG category

  • SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) certificate issued by Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar of Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
  • Children with Special Needs/Disabled: – Certificate issued by Govt. Hospital
  • Orphan and Transgender: – Documentary evidence.
  • Children living with or affected by HIV.

Admission Process Under EWS Category

As per the source, Nursery admission in Delhi under EWS category may start from first week of January 2020. It is being expected that the admission will start from 1st January 2020 onwards. The official guidelines will be issued from 30th December 2019 till 3rd January 2020. The respective data will be finalized till 5th January 2020 and admission will start thereafter.

Parents are informed that they need to enter details against EWS category by visiting the official website. They don’t need to visit school for admission related formalities. The admission list will be also issued at the same official website.   • Go to the official web portal of Directorate of Education Delhi.
  • Further you need to click “EWS/ DG Admission” link
  • Now click registration for new user. Upon clicking this link, a registration form will open on screen.
  • Fill up the registration form by putting the required details.
  • Upon successful registration, you’ll receive a registration number/login ID. You need to keep it preserve for future use.
  • Now, log in at the official website by using the respective login credentials.
  • Fill rest part of the application forma and cross-check the data entered.
