JNVST 2024: Exam Date, Pattern, and Syllabus

Admission into class 6 and 9 of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) all over the country will be given on the basis of a selection test. The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) will be conducted separately for both classes. Similarly, for admission to class 11, you have to pass a selection test. Application process will be completely online and there will be no application fee. The application form is released on different dates for different classes. JNVST 2024 Overview

  • Students of a JNV located in Hindi speaking State may have to be migrated to another JNV in Non-Hindi Speaking State and vice-versa for one academic year when the students are promoted to Class IX. In case of refusal, continuation of study will not be allowed.
  • Children selected on the basis of the test will be admitted only in the JNV located in the respective district from where they are studying class V or VII, as applicable.
  • Before applying, the candidates must ensure their eligibility as candidates found ineligible at any later stage will be disqualified.
  • It is the responsibility of the candidates to make sure that they receive the question booklet as per the language opted during the application process.
  • In all JNVs a help desk will be available to assist the candidates/ parents with the application process.

Note:

  • Candidates who clear the JNVST 2024 will be sent intimation through speed post and SMS by NVS.
  • Students can be given admission only in the Vidyalaya for which they appear for the selection test.
  • Candidates whose application process is completed successfully will receive a registration number and password on their registered phone number.
  • The center for the JNVST Class IX exam is Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the respective district or outside center on need basis.

Eligibility Criteria for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission 2024

Candidates should meet the eligibility criteria prescribed below to be eligible for JNV admission 2024:

For class VI:

  • Candidates from the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission. In the district where the JNV is opened and is bifurcated at a later date, the old boundaries of the district are considered for the purpose of eligibility for admission in the JNVs. This applies to cases where new Vidyalaya has not yet been started in the newly bifurcated district.
  • Candidates appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class V in a recognized school in the same district where he/she seeks admission.
  • A candidate seeking admission must be within the age group of 9 to 13 years. No relaxation for SC/ ST candidates.
  • A candidate claiming admission from rural quota must have studied and passed Classes III, IV and V from a school located in a rural area.
  • A candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of a session in any of the Classes III, IV or V, will be considered as an urban area candidate.
  • A candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class V before 30th September is not eligible to apply.
  • No candidate is eligible to appear in the JNV Selection Test for a second time, under any circumstances.

For class IX:

  • Only those candidates who have studied in Class VIII in any recognized schools of the district where the JNV is functioning can seek admission in Class IX.
  • A candidate seeking admission must be between the age group 13 to 16 years on 1st May of the year of admission.

For class XI:

  • The candidate must have passed Class X from a recognized school of the district where the JNV is located during the academic session of the year of admission.
  • Students seeking admission in Class XI should be within the age limit of 14 to 18 years as on 1st July, of the year of admission.
  • The candidates must have reasonable competency in English and Hindi.

JNVST 2024 Application Form

The process of application has been started for JNVST class 6 admission 2024 which means that the candidates can fill and submit their applications by visiting the official website https://navodaya.gov.in/.  All the important documents required in the form will also be uploaded through online mode only. The candidates can obtain the application form free of cost.

JNVST 2024 Syllabus

Syllabus for class 6 will comprise some general topics whereas class 9 syllabus will comprise topics of class 8 level:

For Class VI

  • Mental Ability Test (MAT): Analogy, Odd-Man Out, Figure Matching, Pattern Completion, Geometrical Figure Completion, Mirror Imaging, Punched Hold Pattern, Space Visualization and Embedded Figure
  • Arithmetic Test: Number & Numeric System, Decimals, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Fundamental Operations On Whole & Fractional Number, Simple Interest, Fractions, Distance, Time & Speed, etc
  • Language Test: Reading Passage followed by some questions

For Class IX

  • English: Word & Sentence, Comprehension, Passivation, Tense Forms, Modal Auxiliaries, Rearranging Jumbled Words, Structure Spelling, Reported Speech, Use of Prepositions and Use of Degrees of Comparison
  • Hindi: Varna Vichaar, Shabd Bhed, Shabd Vivek, Antonym – Synonym, Sentence Correction, Formation of Sentences and Proverbs

JNVST 2024 Admit Card

  • The candidates whose applications are received on time can download the JNVST admit card for appearing in the exam.
  • The JNVST 2024 class 6 admit card has been released online and can be downloaded from the official website of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
  • After downloading, the candidates should take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center with them.
  • Details related to the candidates like name, date of birth, gender and exam details like venue, date and time will be printed on the admit card.
  • Writing on admit card or damaging it in any manner is strictly prohibited as it can render it invalid.
  • No candidates will be granted entry into the exam hall in the absence of a valid admit card.

JNV Admission 2024 Result

Result of the selection test will be announced as per the specified schedule. Marks obtained by the candidates will not be communicated.

  • Candidates will be able to check the result by visiting the official website of NVS and the notice board of schools.
  • Roll number and date of birth of the candidates will be asked to display the online result.
  • The authorities will draw merit lists on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the entrance exams.
  • No provision for re-evaluation of the result will be provided to the candidates.
  • For class XI, there is no entrance test and merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in class X board exam.

JNVST 2024 Selection & Admission

  • Those candidates with names in the merit list will be invited to attend the selection round.
  • The admission will be given as per eligibility of candidate and the seats available in the JNV concerned.
  • Before offering admission, original documents of the candidates will be verified.
  • After all process is completed successfully, final admission will be granted to the students.

Documents to be submitted

Parents of the selected candidates will have to submit the following documents at the time of verification:

  • Residence Certificate in prescribed proforma in case of NIOS study only
  • Proof for date of birth
  • Proof for eligibility as per the conditions of NVS
  • Certificate to the effect that the child had studied in an Institution located in a notified rural area, if applicable
  • Candidates studying under the schemes of National Institute of Open Schooling should produce their rural status certificate issued by District Magistrate/ Tahsildar/ Block Development Officer
  • Medical certificate signed by Chief Medical Officer of the District concerned, for PH candidates
  • Certificate from the transgender candidates issued by competent authority with regard to their gender
  • Any other documents as required

JNV Admission 2024 Reservation Policy (Class 6)

Reservation will be given to the candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the following:

Rural & Urban Candidates

Candidate claiming admission under rural quota must have studied and passed classes III, IV and V from a recognized school located in rural area. A candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of session in Class-III, IV and V will be considered as an urban candidate. At least 75% of the seats in a district are filled by candidates selected from rural areas and remaining seats are filled from urban areas of the district.

Transgender Candidates

No separate reservation for transgender category candidates is provided and they will be included in Boys category for reservation under various sub-categories such as Rural, Urban, SC, ST and PH.
