International English Olympiad 2023: Application, Exam Pattern, Eligibility

The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) conducts the International English Olympiad which is open to the students from class 1 to 12. Interested candidates can register for the Olympiad through their school. Details regarding the availability of application can also be obtained from the school. Two levels of exam will be conducted and clearing them both will make the candidate eligible for the awards. Level 1 exam will be conducted during school hours. Eligibility Criteria for IEO 2023

The candidates who meet the eligibility criteria prescribed below can apply for the 13^th International English Olympiad 2023:

For 1^st level exam:

• All students of classes 1 to 12th are eligible to appear for the 1st level of the Olympiad irrespective of their marks.

For 2nd level exam:

• Top 5% of students in each class who appear for the 1st level exam
• Zone wise top 25 rank holders from each class and
• Class toppers from each participating school where at least 10 students from a class appear in the exam & scores 50% qualifying marks

Note: Students from classes 1 and 2 are not required to appear for the 2nd level exam and are ranked based on their performance in the first level exam.

13^th International English Olympiad 2023 Application Form

Students will be able to register for the Olympiad through their respective schools. Registration form along with the prospectus can be obtained from the schools only. The duly filled registration form should be submitted also to the school itself.

• To fill the application form, the candidates will have to provide details like their name, school name, date of birth, present class, etc.
• Once all the details are provided, the candidates should check for mistakes and if found, correct them.
• The duly filled application form should then be submitted back to the school.

Application fee:

• The registration form and the prospectus can be obtained by paying an amount of Rs. 125/- as registration fee.
• No fee is payable for students suffering from any major physical disability, or an Indian student whose parent was martyred during defense operations.

The basic overview of the International English Olympiad exam pattern is provided below. Same pattern is followed for both level 1 and level 2 exams.

Admit Card for International English Olympiad 2023

• Admit card or roll numbers for appearing in the exam will be sent to the schools and can be obtained from there.
• Examination material and guidelines for the Olympiad can also be obtained from the school.
• Candidates can appear for the 1^st level of exam on the date decided by their school.
• Admit card for the 2^nd level exam will be made available for the candidates who clear the 1^st level successfully.
• 2^nd level admit card can be obtained from the school or can also be downloaded from the SOF website.

Result of 13^th International English Olympiad 2023

• The result of the IEO level 1 exam will be communicated to the school. Candidates who appeared for the exam should contact their school for the result.
• Level 2 result will be declared on the official website of SOF and can be checked from there using the roll number.
• It is expected that the results will be announced around 8 weeks after the commencement of exam.
• Students who clear both levels of exam will be given awards/ scholarships/ recognitions as applicable.

Awards/ Scholarships

International, zonal & topper awards will be provided to 1st level winners for classes 1 & 2 and 2nd level winners from class 3 to class 12. Each winner will be entitled to one award and that too will be the higher level award only. For example, the international top 3 rank holders will be entitled to awards based on their international ranks. Awards for the zonal ranks will be given to the next rank holder. Similarly, class award will be given to the next rank holder.
